Waiting for Lower Mortgage Rates in Des Moines? Listen Here…
If you're waiting for mortgage rates to drop before buying a home, you're probably not the only one.
That's the part worth thinking about. A lower rate could help your monthly payment, but it could also bring more buyers back into the Des Moines real estate market. If rates move toward 6%, I think we could see a lot of people who have been sitting on the sidelines start looking again.
More buyers chasing the same homes could mean more competition and less room to negotiate. That doesn't mean you should rush out and buy today. It means the rate is only one part of the decision.
Before you decide to wait, look at the full picture: the homes available in your price range, your monthly budget, closing costs, and the financing options you actually qualify for. Have a lender walk you through the numbers, including any fees or points tied to a lower rate.
Nobody knows exactly where rates or home prices go next. My advice is simple: get informed before you need to make a move. If waiting makes sense for you, let's have you ready. If buying sooner works for your budget and your plans, let's look at that, too.
